Back to Fuego, this time, it's not a clean- up dive anymore but a weekend getaway with my college barkada. It's difficult to schedule an out of town get away for me and my college buddies since we are now all working in different work settings, but as it goes, if there's a will there's a way! Nothing can keep us from having fun whatever it takes! It may be after summer season already but we decided to catch our last hooray for this summer at the beach.

Terazzas de Punta Fuego is the newer clubhouse for the members of the exclusive Club Punta Fuego. It's located in Nasugbu, Batangas which is about 2 to 3 hour-drive from Manila. It boast of it's world class resort amenities and wonderful beach ambiance.

Caramoan Survivor Challenge

Another fast rising tourist spot in the region is the town of Caramoan. The beautiful beaches on the islands did not escape the scrutinous eye of the French Survivor Management, they picked this place to be the location of the famous French Survivor TV show series. Most Islets in Caramoan boast of virgin beach, powdery white sand and clear blue water. The place is not yet commercialized that there is no public resort or establishments yet. Most tourists just rent a boat at the Centro and do island hopping (Whole day boat rental is Php 1,200.00 -1,500.00). Boatmen are very hospitable and friendly, an attitude exemplifies by most Bicolanos. Do remember that there is no overnight accommodations on the islands, tourist either just camp on the beaches or go back to Centro where in you can find low price inns.

Pagudpud, here I come!!

The last stop in my Ilocandia tour is no less than, Pagudpod beach! From Vigan by road, Pagudpod is about 3 hours drive up north. (Manila to Vigan is approximatelty 10-12 hours depending on the traffic). As most say, it's the Boracay of the North, clear blue water and powdery white sand. And just like Boracay which have 3 stations, Station 1 having the finest sand, Pagupod also have it's station 1 counterpart, they call it the Blue Lagoon beach. From the main Pagudpod arc, instead of turning left to Saud beach, (Saud beach is the more popular beach area where most resorts are located) the way to blue Blue Lagoon beach is to go straight, for about another 30 minutes drive until you see the sign on your left that welcomes you to Blue Lagoon beach (there's an entrance fee of Php 20 per head). We were initially booked at the most advertised Resort in Blue Lagoon, The Kapuluan Beach Resort, but since their service wasn't as good as any booking agent should be, our booking was canceled at the last minute! Talk about poor customer service! Good thing there are other resorts nearby. Since it's Summer, most resorts were fully booked but luckily, we found ourselves staying in one of the nicest resort in the area - Hannah's Place. Incidentally, town's Mayor was also booked there, so we were neighbors for a day!

Hannah's place room rates is Php 8000 for executive family rooms (8-10 pax), Php 4200 for Deluxe family room (4-6 pax), Php 2800- 3000 for single and double rooms. Php 250 for extra bed and there are also picnic huts and sheds if you just wanted to stay for the day. There's also a mini grotto in the resort and a swimming pool was being constructed (it wasn't completed yet during our stay) As a whole, I will rate this place as 3.5 stars, 5 being the highest. I personally did not enjoy the sand in Pagudpod as I much as I did in Boracay. It must be because I was expecting too much or I just like the shores of Boracay better (now i wonder.. is Saud beach better than Blue Lagoon...? hmm..).

Ilocandia Tour - My visit to Vigan

The first stop on my "Ilocandia tour" is the historic town of Vigan in Ilocos sur. They say it's one of the most preserved Spanish colonial city not just in the country but in the whole of Asia!

Vigan is about 10 hour drive from Manila via the North Luzon Express way. There are daily trips from Malina to Laoag via public bus, Partas Bus Line and the Philippine Rabbit (those are the buses I saw along highway during my travel). If you hate road travel, you can reach Laoag via plane, I think Cebu pacific caters to this destination. Once in Laoag, you can just take a jeepney or tricycle ride going to Vigan Historical site.

After my trip to Corregidor, I begin to learn to appreciate historical sites. This Vigan trip made me like it even more. The long dirve from Manila to Vigan is all worth it. The place is a must to visit! It is as if you travelled back in time. It gives you a nostalgic feeling walking along Vigan's brickroad. Calle Crisologo is full of old houses that was built during the Spanish era. It's architecture and design amazes me (the only thing I do not like on this area is that most of the houses on the street is converted into souvenir shops).

Here's another membership beach clup turned semi-public. Semi public that even non-mebers can now avail of the facilities that this resort has to offer. One good thing about this place is that its not crowded and i love the beach overlooking from the mountains of cavite!!!
Their package already includes a sumptuous breakfast and lunch. You can choose from couples room, group or family villas. The fresh morning dew is breathtaking.
